You Don’t Have to Be Catching a Flight to Enjoy the Home Cooking at Airport Grille

If you think airport food is inferior, you’ve probably never dined at Airport Grille. This hidden gem is tucked away inside the Alamogordo White Sands Regional Airport, and it’s operated by the owner, Linda. While other airport restaurants are visited by travelers catching flights, Airport Grille is considered a locals spot by Alamogordo residents, and they come here whether they're traveling or not.
Diners tout the green chili cheeseburger, consisting of a hand-formed beef patty crowned with freshly sliced tomatoes and house-made green chili on a soft yet dense sesame bun. The burgers are accompanied by crinkle cut fries made from real potatoes and served hot and crispy and not a bit greasy. If you’re craving something sweet after your entree, regulars say the peach cobbler is a must-have.
It might take a bit longer than usual for your food to be ready, but that’s because Linda prepares everything to order. Her fare is described repeatedly on review sites as “real home cooking,” and that’s because she treats her customers like family, preparing each dish with love.
